Incoming Special Presidential Envoy for Climate (SPEC) and Senior Advisor to the President for Clean Energy Innovation and Implementation, LinkedIn (Address as “John”) • On January 31, 2024 the President announced Podesta as his new Special Presidential Envoy for Climate (SPEC) succeeding John Kerry. He will continue to his current White House job overseeing $370 billion in spending on clean energy projects under the landmark 2022 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The SPEC leads U.S. diplomacy to address the climate crisis. Integrated closely with the State Department’s existing expert staff and personnel. • Founder and chair of the Board of Directors for the Center for American Progress. • Chair, ClimateWorks Foundation Board; Member, Climate Jobs National Resource Center. • Served as counselor to President Barack Obama, where he was responsible for coordinating the administration’s climate policy and initiatives. • In 2008, he served as co-chair of President Obama’s transition team. • Formerly a member of the U.N. Secretary General’s High-Level Panel of Eminent Persons on the Post-2015 Development Agenda. • Previously served as White House chief of staff to President William J.
